If you don't find a tabbed add on for IE reliable then FireFox is the next
best thing IMHO. Personally I prefer to stick with IE and manipulate the
windows using taskbar buttons but of course it's personal preference and
what you get used to... it also helps to have 2 video cards and two monitors

How can you get Tabbed Browsing on Internet Explorer?
If you are running Windows XP SP2, you can try the MSN Toolbar, which
adds tabbed browsing. I found that program to be buggy, however. Best
option: wait a few more months until IE 7 for XP SP2 is released. This
browser will have tabbed browsing built-in.

MSN Toolbar, Avant Browser, Maxthon are all options.
I personally use Avant.
