Tab [3.27cm] keeps appearing

I have defined a style (Numbering Style) with a hanging indent of 1cm, with
all tabs cleared. However, when I then apply the style a tab of 3.27cm
automatically appears.

I have tried removing the tab and updating the style, but it then happens
all over again whenever I apply the style.

I'd be grateful for any ideas as to how to fix this problem. Thanks.

Which version of Word is this?

Make sure to use the Customize Numbered List (or the Customize Outline
Numbered List) dialog box when you specify the indentation; do not use the
Paragraph dialog box (because the numbering options override the indent
settings of the Paragraph dialog box).

Hi =?Utf-8?B?bWdpcnZpbmc=?=,
I have Word 97.
Yes, I vaguely recall this could be a problem in that version. I believe it's been
rectified in later versions... See if this article gives you any insight

If memory serves, the problem occurs when you re-use a built-in style with
numbering already part of the style. It keeps reverting the tabs to its "default".

But the "Jason tabs" occur in the TOC; the OP seems to have a problem
with the settings of the actual numbering style.
