I have been trying to load Windows XP Professional to a
new hardrive.

randomly and often.

Im running A Gigabyte GA-7N400V-PRO
an Athlon 2500
a 120 GB maxtor harddrive
a liteon DVD-rom
a memorex CD-RW
a Geforce 4 4400
2 512 mb DDR 2700 ram modules
and an Antec 430 Watt power supply

this is really frustrating and has just gotten worse

.
I had very similar problem. The same HDD, different MB.
Installing Win XP many times over and over again with
system crashes, blue screens, copy file errors. Very
frustrating. I installed all kinds of Windows from 3.1 to
XP pro, but this time and with this MB and Athlon 2600 +
is a realy challenge. Trying to change CMOS setting from
default to optimal and some other set of problem is
resurfacing.
Generally - try not to install any unsigned driver non
specific for Win XP or/ and any hardware not designed for
Win XP. This first.
Next - install MB Gigabyte newest drivers for MB and for
system BIOS. Check the MB WEB Site for newest drivers.
Does the POST detects Athlon 2500 as such?

.
The post does Detect the Athlon that way. Only one
driver from the mother board might be unsigned. THen my
nvidia drivers but those work on my other XP systmem

I also had serios probelms with Internet explorer crashing
and now when I'm trying to load Windows 2000 im getting
Stop errors like
*** STOP: 0x0000000A (0x02B02CF2, 0x00000002, 0x00000001,
0x8044485E)
*** Adress 8044485E base at 80400000, DateStamp 384d9b17 -
ntoskrnl.exe Beginning dump of physical memory Physical
memory dump complete. Contact your system administrator or
technical support group.

So now I cant even load that. I was thinking about either
trying XP home or returning the board and processor.

Have you ever gotten your system to be stable?

How do you fix the specific STOP ERRORs windows is giving
me?

Is there anywhere I can go to get help

I need this pc for school and so it must be stable.
