The System32 folder began opening on its own when logging
in as Administrator. Shortly thereafter I began hearing a
warning sound just before the folder opened. Neither
problem occurs when logging in as another User.
I ran msconfig and unchecked all the items in the StartUp
tab and began adding them back one by one and re-starting
until I narrowed the culprit down to the following:
Start Up Item: /L:ENG
Command: /L:ENG
Location: Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Neither problem occurs when the above item is left
unchecked.
Some advice on fixing this problem would be greatly
appreciated, as I do not know whether the problem can be
fixed by editing the Registry and, if so, how to correct
the entry there. I did search the Registry for L:ENG and
found this command but have no way of knowing why it is
not working.
(I have read KBA 170086 and did not find any of those
problems in the Registry.)
