hi - I had some or the other W32 type virus on my system, and I used
Norton to get rid of it (clever little fellow).... but it seems that
one of the files that was infected with the virus, is the following
one: c:\WINDOWS\System32\system32.exe is not found.... now everytime
i back it up from the Norton backup facility, it just removes it
again (so there is not much point to it - as the infection aparently
cant be removed) and I cant find the file on my Windows XP CD - where
am i gonna get it?
So you're trying to get back the infected file? You're actually trying
to restore the trojan, spyware, or whatever scumware was used the
system32.exe file?
I don't have system32.exe on my system. Although we definitely differ
in what applications would be installed, Windows XP is still a base set
of files. I'm running Windows XP Pro. Maybe Windows XP Home has some
additional fluff that isn't present under the Pro version. I doubt it.
It sounds like the system32.exe that you are trying to restore was part
of the problem that you got rid of. And you want it back?
