System won't open Google or My ebay with Mozilla

My computer started running slow this week. Norton said I had a virus
(Bloodhound.Morphine) which it could not repair. I put it in quarantine but
still no access to the above plus slowrunning on other stuff. I ran a
Microsoft beta version scan that could not remove it either. I took it to my
tech and he installed AVG virus software and found and removed another virus.
He assured me it was clean but still had the original problems. I was sent
home to reinstall Windows 2000 (in the update mode) and Service Pack 4. I
did all this and still have the original problem.
I also ran " Registry Mechanic" and it fixed 87 problem (or so it said).
The browsers will direct me to most sites, but will not let me "Watch this
item" in ebay or open the Google site. Any help out there other than a
complete new clean install and will this solve the problem. Thanks in
advance.

You'll probably want to perform a clean install. To do a clean install,
either boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks. The set of four
install disks can be created from your Windows 2000 CD-Rom; change to the
\bootdisk directory on the CD-Rom and execute makeboot.exe (from dos) or
makebt32.exe (from 32 bit) and follow the prompts.

When you get to the point, delete the existing NTFS and or other partitions
found. After you delete the partition(s) abort the install, then again
restart the pc booting the CD-Rom or setup disks to avoid unexpected drive
letter assignments with your new install.

Be sure to apply these to your new install before connecting to any network.

Thanks Dave!

I'm not that tech savy, so could you give me a little guidance on:"delete
the existing NTFS and or other partitions found"? I do pretty good for an old
retired guy, but need a little help over the hump sometimes.{:>) Thanks again!

Boot the Windows 2000 install CD-Rom or setup disks.

Setup inspects your computer's hardware configuration and then begins to
install the Setup and driver files. When the Microsoft Windows 2000
Professional screen appears, press ENTER to set up Windows 2000
Professional.

Read the license agreement, and then press the F8 key to accept the terms of
the license agreement and continue the installation.

When the Windows 2000 Professional Setup screen appears, all the existing
partitions and the unpartitioned spaces are listed for each physical hard
disk. Use the ARROW keys to select the partitions Press D to delete an
existing partition, If you press D to delete an existing partition, you must
then press L (or press ENTER, and then press L if it is the System
partition) to confirm that you want to delete the partition. Repeat this
step for each of the existing partitions When all the partitions are deleted
press F3 to exit setup, restart the pc then when you get to this point in
setup again select the remaining unpartitioned space, and then press C to
create the new partition.

Note: back up all your data first, to whatever you like - removable hard
drive, burn a CD, whatever. and make sure you have CDs to reinstall all your
software. When you do a clean install you will lose everything on that
drive.
