When trying to restore to a previous date I can go to the restore menu and
select a restore point from the "highlighted" dates and then try to restore.
My computer goes through the initial phases and then restarts and after a
few moments I get message that computer cannot restore to point selected.
This happens no matter what restore point I select and only started to
happen several months ago after installing SP2 (I think as was able to use
in past but stopped working now). I have checked available space for
restore and that auto restore is turned on and all ok.

Any suggestions??

Hi Gary,

Run System Restore from the command prompt and see if that works.

1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup
to start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.
2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an
account that has administrator credentials.
3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press
ENTER:
%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your
computer to an earlier state.

Gary;
There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
