"System" using 83% CPU time

a process "System" (not System Idle) is using 80-90% of
my system resources. what is this? should i be worried
about it? my cpu time is being eaten up like crazy

Same here (except System uses all awailable CUP
resources, up to 97%)
Killing it does no good or crashes machine.
Can I somewhere see what System is doing to cause it to
eat up all CPU time
