Go into the programs options or preferences and see if you can have it not
show in the tray or not load when windows starts. If there is no option,
use: start, run, msconfig, startup tab, uncheck the program so it doesn't
start.
On any program you don't want to start automatically, check its
Options to see if it has the choice not to start. Many can easily
and best be stopped that way. If that doesn't work, run MSCONFIG
from the Start | Run line, and on the Startup tab, uncheck the
programs you don't want to start automatically.
I tried that already. The next time I booted up I got a huge system msg saying XP was going to run some sort of diagnostic every time I booted unless I re-activated the startup option for the app. The implication was that I shouldn't have used msconfig. That's just a message to let you know you used msconfig to change the start
up options. That all it is, just a message. It doesn't intend to imply that
you shouldn't use msconfig, is simply a message stating you did use it. If
you read the whole thing and look closely you'll see a check box to not have
the message appear everytime you boot. Check the box and it goes away for
ever or until you use msconfig again.
