System Tray

Jeannine

After I did an upgrade install of XP Pro (from ME), I can't get my system
try to "hide" inactive icons. If have checked "hide inactive icons" on the
start menu, but it doesn't change anything. Also, my Volume icon doesn't
show up in the system tray. I have gone into Sounds & Audio and checked
Place Volume Icon on Task Bar, but it doesn't show up.

How can I get these two things to work right? (Please don't tell me to
install XP on a clean HD!)

Thanks, Jeannine

Right click on the system clock. Go to customize notifications. Click on an
item and choose to always hide. Then click OK. You can now go and change it
back if you wish. The autohide feature will now be working.
