auto hide "system tray" not working

Greetings,

My auto hide feature on my Windows xp doesnt work. I have tried to unckeck
and recheck the "hide inactive icons" the little chevron arrow never shows
and all the programs that are active always show aon the system tray.

Somehow the key of the registry to that "hide inactive icons" must be
corrupted.

Does any one can help?

Thank you

Try resetting the feature: "How to Clear Past Items from the
Notification Area" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283084).
