System tray items not loading

Can anyone please advise ?
I recently upgraded the OS on my laptop from XP home to XP Pro and for some
reason, whenever I startup the laptop for the first time, only half of the
usual system tray items load up. If I log off as the user and back on again,
everything seems to load up fine the second time around.
This was a complete reformat and rebuild rather than a straight upgrade so
there is nothing from the old OS to cause a conflict. Is there anything
obvious that I should be looking for that could interfere with the first boot
up ?

Steve,

Make a complete list of all your startup apps. Trim them down to only the bare essentials.

There's likely no great solution to this situation, which has been reported many times.
The only quick fix is exactly the one you used --- logoff and login again.

You may go to www.dougknox.com and download Doug's Startup tracker.
That would help you get a complete list of startups.
