system tray icons missing

Windows XP Pro...

Not sure what happened here. All the icons in my systray
are missing...all I see is my clock. However the processes
are still running (i just don't see the icons). If I go to
StartMenu properties, "Hide inactive icons" option is
grayed-out.

I did disable some services recently. Is there a service
that needs to run for the icons to show?
