System Tray Icon in Vista for a Service

S

sengsational

So if I write a dot net application that I deploy as a service, am I
"allowed" to have a systemtray icon? It works in XP, as long as the
service is installed with the interact with desktop setting is
maintained. But I have reason to believe that maybe the stricter
world of Vista will not allow the system trayicon to be managed from a
service, or maybe there's a trick to it.

I don't believe there's a trick. Vista's service isolation mean that they
cannot interact with the desktop. In the .NET world I believe remoting
between a client and the service is a popular way to have UI control of the
service.
