System speaker makes irregular 'sound' and desktop resets

Stuart

Hi,

I'm trying to help someone out, they have 2 pcs that both
have the same irritating problem (one has never been
connected to the internet).

Some variable amount of time after start up and randomly
thereafter, the pc's make a noise from the system
speaker, a brief and quickly decreasing (in pitch)
sound. If you have changed the background, even if you
re-boot, the background reverts back to what it was
before you changed it at the point of the sound.

I have also noticed that sethc.exe seems to run at this
point and maybe winlogin, but hard to tell as it's all
instantaneous.

Any help would be appreciated as it really annoys them
and now me! p.s. Their xp is up-to-date and they have
Norton 2002, also up-to-date.

Thanks,

Stuart

Cool, thanks - never looked in there. Pretty sure that
she wouldn't have touched this on either PC either, so it
must just have defaulted badly or been set by a program
but I will try playing with these options on her PC
tonight!

Hi Stuart,

This has to do with changes being made under Accessibility. Revert them.
