System Shutdown

Q

Quique

Even though my PC is not configured as a network terminal,
I get this message every time I connect to the internet:

"System Shutdown: this shutdown was initiated by NT
AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. This was caused because the RPC (Remote
Procedure Call) terminated unexpectedly"

The my computer restarts, and the whole thing happens all
over again, and again, and again.

I just don't know what to do!

Any help would be very much appreciated! Thank you!

Hi,

Go to "start" "control panel" "performance and
maintaince" "administrative tools" "component services".
On the left side of that window click on "services
(local) ". Scroll down on the right side of that window
looking for RPC (Remote Procedure Connection). Read the
line to see if what that setting is on. It should be set
for "Started" and "Automatic". To change yours you can
right click to "hightlight" that line, and scroll down
to "properites". You can select the different setting on
the General tab, by clicking on the "down" "arrow" and
keep changing the setting unitl you fix it.

Also click on the Logon tab and make sure yours is set
for the correct lonin. The first one would be for cable
which would not have a userid or password. The second
choice is for a dial up with userid and password.

FYI: on the Recovery tab there are settings on what to do
if the service fails. Until you get it resolved you might
want to change that setting to "restart service" instead
of "restart computer".

Let me know if that works for you.
Good luck,
Andrea
