System Shut Down Problem

Hi, I recently purchased Microsoft XP and am assuming
everything was loaded correctly. The problem is everytime
I am in the middle of doing something a box pops up
saying "system shutdown, the system has to restart
because of the remote procedure called (RPC) service
terminated unexpectedly." This happens about every five
minutes while the computer is running. HELP!!! Thanks if
you can.
