Everytime since last month my laptop (HP z1180) shutdown
itself after about 10 minutes online and I use MS Internet
Explorer. I got message as below:
System Shutdown
The system is shutting down. Please save all work in
program and log out. Any unsaved changeds will be lost.
This shutdown was initialted by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM.
Time before shutdown: 00:00:55
Messaage:
Window must now restart because the Remote Procedure call
(RPC) service terminated unexpectedly

How to fix it?
Thanks in advance.

You are most likely infected with the Blaster worm virus.

To stop the rebooting/shutdowns, right click on the task bar, choose task
manager, processes tab, look for msblast.exe. Highlight it and click end
process. Then turn on the xp firewall.

To turn on the firewall: control panel, network and internet connections,
network connections, right click your connection, properties, advanced tab,
check the protect my computer box. Do this as quickly as you can once the
desktop comes up. Then visit the sites below for the removal and patch info.

Also make sure to follow the links to the Microsoft pages for the patch or
visit windows update for the patch after you remove it.

Hey Debbie,

I had the EXACT same message when I converted from Windows
ME (even though it ran great for me) to XP. On the
Windows WP web site they displayed the error window and
said that it was virus related. After several upgrades
and scans with my virus software (MacAfee) and downloading
and installing SP1A XP service pack and ALL critical
updates for security, the problem went away.

Hope this helps,

You got Blaster through lack of a firewall. Do you have one yet?
Also, you were supposed to download an MS Critical patch in July...
Are you having fun yet?
