System Restore

Not sure if my machine has a virus, but i cannot activate
system restore. System just sits there. Nothing happens. I
used this procedure about a week ago and it worked. I am
thinking to restore winxp from my disk. Do i have to undo
current winxp? and do you think this will solve problem. I
realize that i then must contact microsoft for all
security updates which will be lost. Any thoughts on this

Is there a particular reason you are trying to use S/R

now? No you do not need to restore XP, just shut off S/R
reboot and turn it back on again this should correct
whatever is wrong with it (corrupted files)But please
note doing this will also delte ALL restore points,But
