System Restore?

My husband did something to the sound card or the program that creates sound
on my computer. The computer thinks it no longer has a sound device. I wanted
to restore to the point before he did this but it was a few months ago. When
i try to do a system restore to that date it wont let me go back that far. I
am not sure how to do this? Is there a way to restore windows to the orignal?
I bought the computer with windows vista on it so i do not have a backup disk
for windows it jsut came with it, but is there a way i can still re-install
it. Will that solve my problem?

System Restore does not sound like an option here, it has gone too much time
since the change. Vista's restore points take up much space, and old ones
are overwritten relatively quickly.

There should be, but I do not think you have to go to that extreme just yet.
Instead, head over to the computer or sound card manufacturer's download
pages, download the drivers for your soundcard and reinstall them.

The OEM's provide different ways of restoring Vista: Factory default restore
disks, Windows installation disks or a procedure to restore to factory
default at startup. If no disks came with the computer, you may have a
program installed that will burn such disks for you. I can not say without
knowing the make and model.

STOP multi-posting in these Newsgroups.
It is rude and ignorant.

That could have been handled better.

Right. Also two other reasons:

1. There's a maximum of 90 days for keeping any restore point.

2. Trying to go back more than a week or two is dangerous. It may
solve one problem, but create others by getting registry entries out
of synch with other files on the drive.

it's more rude and inappropriate to ask a person to stop
multi-posting. when you use all caps in your post (like STOP)
that is equivalent to creaming or shouting at anyone's face.

sometimes when one post in a newsgroup, one thought that
her first try to post did not go thru - and one is promted to
make another try - and Mr Murphy you could have handled this
in appropriate manner.

you are rude boy! go and drink a glass of milk... or may it's
time for your mom to breastfeed you again for the day...
