My Pc is not able to go into System Restore It says I have lost my DILL files How do I get them back??

Hi,

Reinstall System Restore. Go to the Control Panel/Folder Options/View tab,
set it to "Show hidden files and folders" and uncheck "Hide protected
operating system files [recommended]". Also uncheck "Hide extensions for
known file types".

Then, open Windows Explorer from Start/All Programs and go to the
C:\Windows\Inf folder. Locate the sr.inf file, right-click it and choose
install.

You may need to either insert your WinXP CD or know where your I386 folder
is located on the hard drive. You may also need to know where the
\ServicePackFiles folder is (usually under the Windows directory).

Hi Sue,
Thanks Will I have to go back and re check Hide protected files ETC.....

Only if you want to, that is a system default setting, but you can leave
them in view.

Hi Sue,

Just create a new shortcut to it if you like under:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Accessories

Have Folder Options - View set to show Hidden files, and *not* Hide
Protected mode ones. Open a window on C:\Windows\Inf, look for and
right click on sr.inf and take Install and it will reinstall System
Restore. This will probably start it over clean - if you then find that
you can see no restore points it would be best to make sure there are no
orphaned files left around - Open the System Volume Information folder
(on each drive if more than one) and delete all the files so as to have
a clean start
