I can NEVER restore my computer to an earlier date!!

My System Restore creates restore points, but it NEVER allows me to restore
to an earlier date; my machine goes through the process of rebooting,
etc.....finally, I get a red message stating "cannot restore to an earlier
date."

And, this happens ALL THE TIME.

Please advise.
Thank you.

Restore. Enable
'Turn off System Restore on all drives' - then reboot your PC. Go back into
SR and disable 'Turn off...' and then reboot again. After the second reboot
you should have one new checkpoint and SR should work properly after that.

If you create a restore point, wait 2 minutes and then did a restore, will
it work?

I did everything you suggested, and, yes, a restore point was established
upon the 2nd reboot...when should I test to see if it worked?

Thanks,

Well...bad news...I tried restoring my computer to the restore point that
was established...but, to NO AVAIL.

The computer could not be restored to an earlier date...the same message as
before...I believe there is something wrong with my System Restore...I will
stii entertain any remedies that you may have.

Thanks,

I have SOLVED my System Restore item; it stems from Norton Anti-virus...all
I need is to deactivate it...then run System Restore...then it works.

Copying my post from previous Reply:
Use a program called "Erunt" It is far and away better than Microsoft's
System Restore, and is much more effective too. It is quicker and restores
more file settings in addition to the ones Restore does. It does autobackups
too. I was reluctant to use anything other than MS's Restore, and only used
this program as an addition to it at first...but I am so happy with it I
turned off M.S. Restore altogether and don't use it anymore. Use Erunt.
