How to do a "System Restore" in Win98 SE?
I don't see it in my System Tools folder.

Hi herbzee,

I'm afraid Win98 SE does not have the system restore feature.

Kind Regards

Hi,

Windows 98 does not have a utility such as the System Restore in WinXP.

Win98 has the ability to restore the registry only and for up to five days prier
using ScanReg.

To restore a backup copy of the registry using ScanReg
1. Start your computer, press and hold CTRL, (or by tapping F8) select Command
Prompt Only
2. At the MS-DOS prompt, type scanreg /restore.
3. Select the previous registry you want to restore, and then press ENTER.
4. When you receive notification that you restored a properly working registry,
press ENTER to restart your computer.

For more information on Scanreg check this article:

Thanx for the prompt reply.
Before I proceed with ur suggestion, I tho't I'd show the error message
I received; as follows and I quote:

"Invalid VxD dynamic link call from MOUHID(32) + 00000079 to device
"VMD ", service 6.
Your Windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows Setup program
again to correct this problem.

To continue running Windows press Y or ENTER. To quit the current
program press N. If you continue running Window, your system may
become unstable. Do you want to continue?

Press Y for Yes or N for No: Y "

To further acquaint U with the possible cause of this error, I was
trying to install a driver for the Logitec Mouse program so I could run
an external PS2 mouse, rather than the touch pad, as the PS2 mouse was
doing nothing when I plugged it into the PS2 port.

Further along, I found that before I did this, when I plugged in a USB
mouse in it's proper port it worked OK. Now when I boot the machine
without an external mouse attached, all is OK, but when I plug in the USB
mouse, I get the above error message.

In view of all this ,what do you advise?

Cheers-Herb.

Hi,

It sounds like there's an incompatibility with the Logitech software/driver and
Win98.
I would suggest looking for Win98SE compatible mouse software/driver or
uninstall the mouse software/driver from add/remove programs in Control Panel.
