system restore

System restore will only hold one restore point. I have a 120 GB hard drive
with 30 GB used. In the system restore settings, everything is turned on
and the drive is being monitored. The allotted memory to system restore is
set to the max 12% (13 GB), but still only one system restore point will
exist at a time. Very rarely 2 restore points will exist, but they will
only last for a day or so.

Please help.

Thanks, Graham

Interesting. How about if you manually create a restore point?
Perhaps you're not restarting/rebooting or installing things very
often and new restore points just aren't needed? Dunno; I'm no
expert by any means!
It seems though if you manually create a couple of restore
points, and they disappear, than at least you're positive you
have something "wrong" going on.
It does seem like a problem if they're being created and
disappearing already though. Sorry I'm no help.

Just a thought,

check Services to see if it's set to automatic, rather than manual.
Also, you can turn it off, reboot and turn it back on, but be advised, the
ONE point you do have will be lost.
90 days is the life span of a restore point.
They are created when you add new hardware/software, or make any system
changes. If there is not enough disk space SR stops monitoring the
system..do you have more than one hdd?
Do you have any disk cleanup programs set to run automatically?

I have 2 hard drives, both are being monitored and both have ample free
space. Also if I manually create a restore point, it too will be lost
within a day or two and leave only one restore point. I have no disk clean
up programs. A few weeks ago ( well less than 90 days) I created a new
restore point when I downloaded new video drivers and poof now it is gone,
as I said it seems my system will only store one restore point at a time.

I will check Services. It just sucks to create a restore point before you
do something and only to have it disappear.

Thanks for any help.

Does system restore monitor and restore ANY application data? I think not so drive images are a lot safer but usually older and larger.

I need to restore to a point approx 06/01/06. System restore will only allow
me to go back to 07/01/06. Is there any way to go back further?
