System Restore

Occasionally, after I start my computer (with Windows XP
Professional as the operating system), all my restore
points are deleted.

However, new restore points can be created after that,
either manually or automatically.

The only indication of a problem is in the System Event
Log, which indicate Error (with a white X on a red
background) and the words "Error SR".

Is there any way to determine more specifically the
source of the problem and if so, how to correct it?
