System Restore very slow to complete

D

David Baker

Until a few days ago, my System Restore took no longer
than a couple of minutes before re-booting and recovering,
but now the file restore indicator is taking a long time
to complete making the recovery process very slow, long
enough to make a cup of tea and a sandwich and then still
not complete!
Please can anyone tell me why this should be happening and
if there is a solution. Every restore I make is
successful but the time factor involved is annoying.
TIA

I think the first question should be is -- why do you restore so much?
Something else may be wrong with your machine.

Reason was that the machine didn't appear to have returned
to as it was before I installed and then uninstalled a
couple of trial versions of programs I wanted to try. It
was a desparate attempt to return to normal which it has
done, but the last two system restores were very slow.
Everything is running as it should be and nothing else is
slow and scans for viruses, worms, trojans and adware show
no infections.

Could just be that it had to make significant changes to the registry to get
back to where it was so it takes longer than it used to. If it takes hours
or doesn't work at all, then I'd be concerned.
