System Restore Turned Off - (windows xp home)

Guest

When I go to system restore I get an error message "system restore has been
turned off by group policy to turn on contact domain administrator". Cannot
turn back on as tabs have disappeared from computer properties. Kids have
been on msn messenger and panda antivirus has been working overtime in the
last 24hours
reporting files disinfected - (trojans & worms).
Any help appreciated.

Hi Yetti,

Can't Access System Restore - Disabled by Group Policy

Go to Start - Run and type regedit then press enter.
Navigate to the following registry Key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows
NT\SystemRestore

In the right pane double click on "DisableSR" an change the Value Data
to 0

In the right pane double click on "DisableConfig" and change the Value
Data to 0

Close Regedit. Right click on My Computer and select the System
Restore tab.

If the above doesn't fix the issue, there's a registry edit at Kelly's
Korner.
Look on line 278 left side.
