System restore stopped working after OS files with updates reached...

I have a Dell Insiron 5150.
The System Restore, on XP pro SP1 worked fine when I first
activated my XP. Since then I have added, my software,
some music files, & pictures from my digi cam.

Now if I try to restore back to any time, listed on the
calander in Restore, it will go through the process, then
upon reboot, it states the restore could,not be completed,
and nothing has been changed. however upon inspection,
files were added, etc..

why is this happening? What can I do to fix it, I have 12%
of a 40GB HDD being used.

There may be corrupted data in system Restore.
Turn off/on System Restore to delete corrupted files:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.
Click System Restore Settings on left side.
Check "Turn off System Restore", click OK, follow prompts and reboot.
This deletes ALL Restore Points including corruption.
Then go back and turn on system Restore and create a Restore Point.
