Restore system

Recently an mistaken click on an ad caused a nasty virus to be be downloaded
on my computer. My system was cleaned using virus and adware programs, but I
am still getting weird pop-ups showing up on my screen even when no one is
touching the computer ( I have to open the taskmanager to stop the processes
to get rid of them). I've tried using system restore to restore my comp to an
early time, but these files seemed to have been damaged by the virus. Is
there anyway to fix this problem or restore my computer short of reinstallig
Windows and losing all my files? I have no floppy disk drive so I couldn't
make a backup disk.

Try running a Malware remover such as :-
Spybot Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html

Even after this you may need to do a Repair Install :-

Back up your data FIRST.

Thanks for the help. So far the program seems to be working and I haven't
needed to do a system repair. I'll just keep my fingers crossed and hope it
stays that way.
