System Restore Service error

When trying to start System Restore Service I get an error which says
"specified module not found". Error 126. Despite much searching in the
knowledge base I could not find any instructions about what to do about this
error. What specified module is not found and how do I find it? The term
"module" as it relates to services is not defined anywhere. Why is this left
undocumented? My psychic powers just aren't good enough to percieve this
vail.

This might happen if the System Restore core files (mainly sr.sys and/or
other files namely Srrstr.dll, Srsvc.dll, Srclient.dll )are missing. See if
this method helps:

Insert the Windows XP CD. Click Start, Run and type the following command.
Press Enter

"rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf"

System Restore core files should be reinstalled. Alternately, you may also
open Windows Explorer, navigate to "C:\Windows\Inf" folder and right-click
sr.inf (choose Install)

If that does not help, run the command SFC /SCANNOW from Command Prompt or
RUN. Have the XP CD in the drive.

System File Checker (sfc)
