System Restore refuses to work

When I click on System Restore, nothing happens. Click again and an
empty System Restore window opens up.

Following other threads, I have tried disabling System Restore in
services.msc, re-booted, then removed all System Volume Information
folders. This made no difference. I then tried re-installing the program
from the sr.inf file. This also made not difference.

Has anyone any other ideas, please?

I have exactly the same problem. It occurred after doing a system restore.
Also can't now access "Help & Support" nor "User Accounts" same symptoms of
blank windows or nothing at all. Guess there are also other problems as yet
unidentified.

Cannot do a reinstall of XP as the op system is newer than the version on
the reinstallation CD (presume this is because of upgrade to SP2).

Am contemplating that I may have to format the hard drive but wish to try
other options first. Also grateful for any other ideas.
