system restore problems

I had to system restore my laptop. since I did, I do not have control over
the "power" settings in my screen-saver page, the computer stays on all the
time. The Stand-by button from the start menu is not active. Also, the
image on my monitor appears vertically compressed (or horizontally
stretched)... and I can't find any monitor controls for that. The laptop did
not have these problems before the system restore.

help.

Hi bb,

Did you use System Restore built into Windows, or a system recovery?

Bert... I used a recovery disc that I was instructed to make after getting
the laptop, (took me awhile to find it). The problem was that Windows
wouldn't boot.

Hi bb,

The problem is that the recovery disk you created doesn't have the
drivers for that particular laptop.

What is the make and model?

The drivers should be available for download at the manufacturers web
site.
