System restore problems

I am trying to restore my computer to an ealier date, but no matter what I
do, it won't let me. I keep getting a unable to restore message. My
Computer is freezing up and running really crappy. Any help greatly accepted..

Hi

One or more of the System Restore files could have been corrupted - try
turning SR off/on - but I'm afraid that you will lose any existing
checkpoints:

Right click My Computer, select Properties and then the System Restore tab.
Enable 'Turn off System Restore on all drives' and reboot your PC. After
that 1st reboot go back into SR and disable 'Turn off System Restore on all
drives' and reboot your PC again. After that 2nd reboot you should have one
new SR checkpoint.

What, if any, error messages are you seeing when the PC freezes? Have you
had a look in the Event Viewer to see if any of the entries there may point
towards the problem?

I have a similar problem. It won't let me restore past 30 days. Iv'e had some relief from the freeze ups with a free anti virus program, www.grisoft.com

Hi

Restoring too far back can be problematic because the Registry values could
have changed such a lot over that period of time. A lot of programs may not
work and some Windows Updates could be affected as well.

Can you see evidence of Restore Points over 30 days old? They are
automatically removed when the space allocated for restore points is
full. The oldest go first. Some users consider restore points more than
a few days old are worthless.
