System restore

Hi, can anyone help please. I have a PC & lap top, both running Windows XP
which was loaded when I bought them new. However neither will allow me to use
System Restore. I have tried a few times and on every occasion it runs
through the whole procedure and then when it restarts it says something like
"windows was unable to restore to the date requested because no changes have
been made to your computer"

I know there have been changes so why won't it let me restore ? All the
setttings seem to be right and it is creating restore points.

My guess would be you are seeing one of the 'daylight savings change' bugs.
If you can afford to lose the old points, turn off restore, restart, and turn
it back on. That should fix it.
