Hello!
Windows System Restore is not working. In short, I had a problem which may have
been a result of mal/spyware.
Solved that with Outpost Anti-Spyware. However, at that particular juncture I
noticed that System Restore was damaged.
No matter which date I chose, it would say restore incomplete--system has no
changed. I know that to be false, since I tested it right after downloading a
critical update. Still said *no change*
I also know that there are some nasty things out there that infect SR files, so
that when you go back, it re-infects.
Obviously, I do not wish to reinstall the operating system. My machine came
with XP Pro, and it now is SP2 with all the critical updates installed.
Is there any way I could use the original OS CD and ONLY reinstall the System
Restore section?
Or is there another way--period?
In the meantime, I am depending on Norton GoBack, which is driving me nuts, as
it slows down everything and is constantly writing to the hard drive!
Thanks!

You're welcome. Ditch those products, come out to the light!

You would have thought Norton would have come up with a fix for this by now,
but then again that's there way.
