I have the max assigned disk space (2343 MB). So I don't see how I
could have exceeded this amount in only 2 weeks. I have 34 check
points in November. How do I restrict the number of check points?
What do you think is keeping me from going back to October?
I'm not sure what the problem is, but let me point out that going back to
November is *not* a good idea. System Restore a tool that can be very useful
for reverting the operating system to the condition it was in yesterday, or
at most a few days ago. Its purpose is to let you undo an installation or
choice you made *recently*.
It is *not* meant to be a complete backup solution. If you try to use it to
go back several weeks or months ago, you will almost certainly create all
kind of out-of-synch conditions, and make the situation *worse*, not better.
That's not System Restore's purpose and you should not think of it in those
terms. A week or two is about the longest time you can effectively go back.
For that reason, the default 12% of the drive that Windows uses for SR is
way too much for almost everyone, and should be lowered to give you at most
two weeks.
