All of my System Restore Points inserted prior to 1/26/04
have disappeared. This included the Checkpoint inserted
by the system, myself and

Does anyone know if there is a way to restore the System
Restore Points? Where are they stored in the registry if
that is their home?
Thanks

They aren't stored in the Registry, and there is no way to restore old
Restore Points (unless you have a full backup of your system and can restore
the backup).

There are several things that can make these suddenly disappear. Here's an
excellent list of them:

If it has got into trouble, it is probably sensible to clear it out and
let it start clean. System - System Restore. Check 'Disable System
Restore, and OK, reboot. Now have Folder Options - View set to show
Hidden files, and *not* Hide Protected mode ones and delete everything
in the System Volume Information folder on each drive

Start SR up again, and I suggest reviewing the settings for each drive.
There is not much point having it enabled on data drives, and on ones
with System or Programs I would reduce the space allotted if more than
say 1GB - I use 500MB, the minimum is 200 which will only handle maybe a
week of points. But the default of 12% of a drive seems too much for
its own good on modern large drives

System - System Restore. Check 'Disable System
Restore, and OK, reboot.

How do I get to this point "System" ?

maybe I should tell you what I need to do and you advise me?

I`ve got a suspicious restore point (AV pgm) and I want to delete the
restore point. Can`t remember how to get to the folder.
OOPS, perhaps I should get rid of all the restore points, as another
showed suspicious,too.
I do consider my AV to be reliable.
Thanks

DO NOT try to delete any single point; Restore points exist as a chain -
you cannot delete one without breaking the chain.

Ensure you now have a good clean one (Start - All Programs - Accessories
- System Tools - System Restore and use the Create); then go to Start -
All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup and on the More
Options page click the 'Delete all but the most recent restore point'.
