System restore points disappeared

My PC has frozen on boot up a couple of times for no apparent reason. So I
decided to restore to an earlier system to try to eliminate the cause. All
my system restore points have disappeared. I am using XP SP2 and I have
system restore set to use max disk space - about 13GB. Last time a looked,
a few days ago, it would have been full of restore points back to the start
of the year. Please do you know why they would have gone - I did not
attempt to clear them.

I have done an up to date virus check but nothing found.
