system restore not working

I have the maximum disk space available to sys rest.
(12%). A couple days ago, it just stopped working. When
the computer restarts itself, the message only
reads "your computer cannot be restored to: 'mo,day,year'
no cahnges have been made to your computer". I have
tried this w/ several preselected restore points.
Also, related?
I cannot set explorer to the search engine of my choice
anymore. I have tried several times to set it to excite
under internet options, but now it just keeps going
directly to res://srtfs.dll/index.html#96676.
Any ideas?

It sounds like your computer has been hijacked. Go to
lavasoft (http://www.lavasoft.de/) and get Ad-aware and
install and run...also try hijack this
(http://s89223352.onlinehome.us/mirror/hjt/) another
freebe. Be careful though on the highjack this you can
delete the wrong stuff. Good luck...have you checked to
see if the system restore is set to the off position? Good
