I recently started having problems with my Maxtor hard
drive so decided to upgrade to a Western Digital hard
drive. I used the WD Data Lifeguard softwar to transfer
my software from old drive to new.

I run Windows XP home edition with SP1 and now I cannot
get the system restore function to work. When I select
system restore, I get a window function error report with
request to send report to MS. However, no indication of
what program failed is provided (at least that I can
find).

All other s/w seems to be working fine. Got any
suggestions?

Thanks but the website link assumes you can get system restore to run long
enough to disable it before rebooting. I couldn't even get that part to come
up. I got some really good help from a website www.thepcgurus.com . They
suggested I place the XP disc in my CDRW drive and copy over the files
associated with sr.inf. I did this and system restore now works.
