System restore not starting

recently i tried to change my notebook adapter wireless card from d-link to
linksys and it did not work
after installing back the d-link card i could not connect to the other pc
properly so i tried to do a system restore
however the system restore would not load
can anyone help me to rectify this problem of getting my System restore to
work as the recovery cd also is not working

As an outside shot, try rebooting and opening in Safe Mode (tap key F8
continuously while rebooting) Perhaps System Restore will work in that
configuration. If you do try this, please let me know if it works.

Hi Bert,

You may remember about a week ago I asked about problems with my system
restore and indicated that I also have a taskbar headache. You suggested to
take care of the taskbar problem first. I fiollowed a few steps and then I
lost track of the site and you. Would you please post or contact me. And what
