System Restore not Completing

When I run system restore everything appears fine.
I select a bold date and the progress bar runs and the
the system reboots.
BUT..when the system comes back up there is a message that the system
restore was incomplete.
I ran this with 6 different dates in January 2005 and received the same
message.
When I used December 31, 2004 it worked.

When I tried to reverse the system restore it did not work.

What could have caused the system restores not to work even though the
progress bar looked like everything was fine.
Thanks, Ken

Your restore files are corrupt. I afraid you will lost all your restore
points if you do the following procedure.

Turn off System Restore

right-click on My Computer and select properties, select System Restore ,
check "Turn off system restore on all drives. Then click "Apply", then
uncheck "Turn off System Restore on all drives". "Apply","OK".

Now create a restore point.

If multiple drives are involved, system restore may work if you turn off
monitoring on all but the primary drive - the one with your op system. At
least it has worked for me in the past. So you may be able to restore your
primary drive but not the others.

Can you please explain the above.. you are saying that I will lose all
restore points if I do the following?

Your Restore error is generally cause by System Restore's files being
corrupted somehow. Possibly by not shutting down properly. In order to fix
system restore you must turn it off. Then turn it back on. When you turn it
off you lose all your previous restore points because system restore will
delete all the restore points. When turning System Restore on, you will then
start new Restore Points but you will not be able to restore any points
before System Restore was turned on.

I hope this makes more sense.

What kind of problems were you having to make you use System Restore. I may
be able to help you with those problems.
