System Restore never works

I have tried severl times to restore my Vista Ultimate to a previous time.
It never works. Neither an automatic nor a manual restore point. What can I
do to make it start working. The only solution I have had in the past it to
reformat and do a system recovery. I have to reformat because I purchased
the system with Vista Home Premium and upgraded to Vista Ultimate.

Any help with my system restore will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have any Norton products installed? If yes, this is a known issue
with Norton. See these links from MVP Bert Kinney:

I tried System Restore in safe mode and it just hung there. I thought maybe
it took longer so I left it and went to bed. When I got up this morning it
was still hung. I had to turn the computer off by holding down the power
button.

I really need to restore....please help....Thanks

Did you look at MVP Bert Kinney's webpages about System Restore? I gave
you the links, but here they are again for your convenience:

If System Restore is really broken, you may not be able to use it. I
understand this isn't what you want to hear, but this may be Reality.
Perhaps a better way to approach the problem for now is for you to tell
us what is wrong with your system that makes you want to do a System
Restore. Maybe you can get help for that and then start over with System
Restore.

Looking through this rather long thread, I only see the two posts from
you - the first one and then this one. I don't see where you've told us
anything about your computer or its issues.
