system restore issues

I have a hp533w and the system restore states.
A restoration to "System Checkpoint" restore point failed. No changes
have been made to the system.; I have tryed everything to fix this
problem and I dont know what to do,I even turned
it on and off again.grant it i am not having any problems right at this
point(knock on wood)
but if I should how do I fix it.Any suggestions.

I thank you and i do have norton system works 6 on my pc but the box
that it says to uncheck is unchecked,should i just turn off the auto
protect and then try it after that

After reading the following article I would suggest not using NSW at all.
"Restoration Incomplete..." when running System Restore with Norton 2006
applications installed:
