system restore help

Hi Everyone, I'm not sure if anyone can help,
I'm running windows xp and trying to do a system restore, but it keeps
saying "cannot open r:/220.gho" followed by "output a:/ghosterr.txt"
i've heard that this is something to do with symantec but their website is
not too helpful,
Does anyone know how i can overcome this problem?
