System Restore Doesn't Work

H

HopOR

When I try to run system restore, clicking once nothing
happens. Looking in task manager I see rstrui.exe
running, using no cpu, but mem usage changes
occasionally. If I double-click the system restore icon
(from control panel | performance and monitoring or from
Start | Programs | Accessories | System Tools) I get a
white window with no text except System Restore in the
title bar. I've tried disabling and re-enabling system
restore with and without a boot in between. I've tried
going to %SystemRoot%\inf\sr.inf and right-click and
select install. I've tried deleting the System Volume
Information Folder. Still only get a blank window.

HELP!!!

Hello HopOr !

The best, cheapest and quickest way to fix this problem
and get done within 1 1/2 hrs:

Un-install SP2:
- Go to Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs and
select SP2
- Next boot to the WinXP CD
- Select Repair and follow other screen instructions.
- After it Reboots go to the Desktop.
- Run a 3rd Party Windows Registry cleaner program.
- Defrag the Windows Registry file.
- Then reboot.
- After it Reboots go to the Desktop.
- Check your problem, as it should be ok now.
- Then go to the Windows Update Site and download and
install them again without SP2.
- Wait for a while until Microsoft gets SP2 fixed.

If you would like to correspond further, I have created a
temporary email address you can contact me at and I have
images that would show more details about how to do these
tasks:
