System Restore Can't (or Won't)

H

Helen M.

After performing security updates last week I started having problems with
OE6 (coincidence?). When I couldn't resolve them, I tried to restore my
system to an earlier date. Well, I tried every restore point back to early
June and
each time was rewarded with the message that the restoration was
unsuccessful. I'd go back further, but I've apparently gone back as far as
the system will permit.

I've performed a scan for viruses, spyware, malware, etc -- my system is
clean. I've run defrag and disk cleanup and I'm still unable to do a
successful restore.

Is a complete restore my only remaining option, or is there something else I
could try?

I'm running Windows XP, Home Ed. with all recommended software and security
updates. Any suggestions would be appreciated

Have you tried the safe mode ?. It works a lot easier without having to
disconnect A/Vs ,firewalls etc
Last evening that was the only way for me.
What you do is reboot , and f8 to get to safe mode
