I cannot turn off System Restore by the usual method (My
Computer, Properties, System Restore, "Turn off System
Restore on all drives"). Even after rebooting the status
continues to be "monitoring" and the checkbox "Turn off
System Restore on all drives" remains unchecked.
This system has three logical drives: SYSTEM (C,
STORAGE1 (E, and STORAGE2 (G. For some reason the
System Restore thinks that STORAGE2 (G is the "system
drive", even though it is not. I am able to disable
monitoring for STORAGE1 (E but cannot do so for all
drives. Another anomaly is that System Restore doesn't
show the SYSTEM (C boot drive as an "Available drive".
WinXP Home (OEM so of course no email support). I've
searched the MSKB and Googled but no help has been
found. Not sure what to do now except perhaps edit the
registry to turn off system restore (which the MSKB says
should NOT be done). This system has been well
maintained, and is virus and scumware clean.
Please help in any way you can as I'm not sure what to do
next.
