System Restore Cannot start

Help, please. I had to replace a dying HDD. Used the Seagate CD to format
new HDD and copy all from old Maxtor HDD. Removed Maxtor and booted to
Seagate. Now System Restore won't start. Gives error 7023 - Cannot find the
specified path. %Systemroot%/System32/drivers

C:/Windows/System32/drivers is there and the System Restore service dll is
as well.

Advice, please before I really trash this trying to fix it myself.

Restore points from your old hard disk are irrelevant, so they are not copied to the new hard disk.

I understand that. However, I am now unable to start the System Restore
Service; it returns the error message specified in my post. I want to fix
this so I can again create system restore points.

Steve,

Type in Start, Run:

cmd /k sc qc sr

Post back the output here.

Steve,

The Service info is correct. See if reinstalling System Restore helps.
