System Restore and DDO problem

Just copied my HD to new HD using a sw program that partioned and formatted
using a direct disk overlay . Sytem Restore is not functioing now although
everything else is on new HD. Is there a workaround that will enable system
restore? I sem to need DDO to recognize the size of my HD
